2016 Brings Intrigue to Wynn

2016 already seems to be the year of revival for the nightlife industry in Las Vegas. A few weeks ago, The Hakkasan Group announced the opening of JEWEL at ARIA Resort & Casino in spring of next year. Last week, Wynn Las Vegas unveiled their new nightlife concept during Tryst Nightclub’s “Final Affair” industry party. After ten years of trysts, the nightclub shut its doors to the public and will be replaced by Intrigue on Apr. 28, 2016. The opening of Intrigue also marks the 11th anniversary of Wynn Las Vegas.

Sean Christie, the vice president of operations at Wynn Las Vegas, is hoping to bring an “alternative nightlife experience” to the strip. The nightlife and daylife scene in Las Vegas currently thrives on “the DJ phenomenon.” With EDC Las Vegas being the largest electronic music festival in the United States, the clubs here are often focused on bringing that same “rave vibe” to their guests throughout the year. Although Wynn introduced the EDM experience to Las Vegas clubs at Encore Beach Club, XS and Surrender, Intrigue will follow a much different path by taking the focus off of popular DJs, pop stars and hip-hop artists. Instead, the entertainment at Intrigue will be centered around the idea of themes and changing the club frequently.

The expectation behind this concept is to “present an element of surprise every time someone walks into the venue,” which will keep guests engaged and invested in returning to the club as regularly as possible. In order to protect the privacy of VIP guests, Wynn Las Vegas also aims to establish a private club area within Intrigue that will serve as a social media-free zone. The private club area will have its own entrance through a back hallway, allowing guests to avoid the primary entrance and the main club.

The 14,000-square-foot venue will feature state-of-the-art lighting and sound designed by award-winning John Lyons Systems. Gone are the days of cold winter trysts on the deck as a new glass enclosed patio will offer views of the nightclub’s dramatic waterfall and pyrotechnics show all year long. Even though the programming will not be focused on huge live performances, contemporary party music will fill the space and prove to be just as exciting while creating a high-energy dance environment.

It’s clear that Wynn Las Vegas and Sean Christie are prepared to break out of the shackles that the EDM craze holds over the entertainment industry in Las Vegas. Their unique concept integrated with the aspiration to provide quality service as well as an unsurpassed luxury experience already has us completely intrigued. With JEWEL’s VIP suites and Intrigue’s social media-free zone, the next trend in nightlife seems to be taking a turn towards putting an emphasis on privacy and exclusivity. After having to say goodbye to a number of nightclubs this past year, we’re looking forward to being presented with new and exciting nightlife options to choose from.
