Andy Warhol Comes Out West at Bellagio Resort

You might not head to Las Vegas and consider visiting an art museum. Nightclub? Yes. Pool? Certainly. Strip Club? Probably, but you wont tell anyone. Museum. No.

There is a small percentage of Las Vegas visitors who decide that they need some fin e art in their vacation experience but for those that do the quality of art is impressive. For the next few months Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is home to ‘Warhol Out West” and this collection is only rivaled by the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Incidentally, this exhibition is produced in collaboration with the museum to showcase Andy Warhol’s depiction of the West.

Even if you are not a fan of Pop Art this is one of those exhibits that is fascinating simply because how Andy Warhol has crept into our culture. The Campbell’s Soup piece seen above is iconic. His face is recognizable and we all have hoped to get our own “15 minutes of fame”

“Warhol Out West” is on display at Bellagio Gallery Of Art through October 27, 2013.
Tickets are $16 for general admission; $13 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older; and $11 for students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets and information are available by calling (702) 693-7871 or (877) 957-9777.

Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts is open daily from 10 am to 8pm.

A few pieces that you should definitely see are the Double Elvis as well as the wall paper. If I was crazy enough I might just decorate my office in Warhol motif.

Since you are already seeking out some art you could jump on the CityCenter Monorail and take a look at the public art that can be found all around the CityCenter property. Walk in to the Aria Resort and fin d the concierge and they have all the information and a brochure for a walking tour that will expose you to some impressive art pieces. If that is not enough walk next door to the Cosmopolitan Hotel and see the art pieces they have around the property and make sure to check out the garage art in the parking garage. There is also a real art studio on that property with revolving artist creating actual work on the 3rd level.

While you are there grab a slice of pizza at secret pizza and play some pool.
