Art Concepts Announced For Life Is Beautiful
As the 2014 Life Is Beautiful (LiB) festival slated for Oct. 24 – 26 gears up, the art portion of the already hefty lineup of entertainment is getting amped up with expanded programming over last year’s artistic concepts.
This year, there will be two reigning initiatives during the event – both with strong themes of interactivity. The first initiative participants will get a chance to enjoy includes a ‘live urban gallery’ with murals and installments throughout the streets of the festival.
The second art portion will, essentially, take over the Western Hotel where Patrick Duffy of the Las Vegas Art Museum has curated a gallery of sensory artwork in much of the spaces there.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity that Life is Beautiful can help bring together artists from a multitude of different backgrounds ranging from students at the Las Vegas Academy to some of the most recognized names in the country,” said Duffy in a press release. “It’s our hope that through these works and collaborations we can leave our attendees slightly changed from the experience to impress upon them that ‘Life really is beautiful.’”
Much of the street art that the 2013 LiB fest brought to the avenues of Downtown Las Vegas remained through the year as colorful reminders of the event. This year, with an expanded program and a lineup of several renowned, national- and internationally-based artists headed to town, many locals are likely hoping the street art grows and remains for the year to come.
“The art program is as integral to the overall festival experience as any other aspect at Life is Beautiful,” said festival founder Rehan Choundry in a press release. “Our goal is to change individual’s everyday relationship with art by inspiring creativity and challenging perspectives, especially amongst those who normally wouldn’t consider themselves art enthusiasts.”
Artists working on the initiatives this year range from Japanese-based Misai Kawai and UK-based D*Face as well as local artists and galleries like the Trifecta Gallery and students from the Las Vegas Academy plus many, many more.
