Bunkhouse Amps Up Sin City’s Downtown Scene

With the Bunkhouse Saloon officially opened, folks visiting and living in Las Vegas are not only thrilled with the cleaned up divey-ish bar, but also with the ongoing lineup of Indy bands, the beverages and, well, the food.

There are a number of things people are raving about with the newly-opened venue and we can see why. A cool lineup of ongoing bands including RJD2 and Blonde Redhead at prices that are shockingly affordable. We’re talking like $5 to $20 depending on the band. Yep, that’s pretty inexpensive in Vegas, especially to see a live band.

Plus, there’s the food. And while at first take the menu seems like your regular bar fare, there are highlights including four different types of Sloppy Joe offerings including a vegetarian alternative for all the hipster vegheads out there, including my mom.

The Bunkhouse reopened on Monday, Aug. 25 after an approximate 60-day closure, according to news reports. Originally, the bar was opened in 1953, but was closed as part of a Downtown Las Vegas project to revive properties. The property now is smoke free and while there are gambling options, it’s definitely not the highlight of this once dying bar.

So head down to the Bunkhouse, grab your Deviled Eggs and Sloppy Joe, then head out to the Bunkhouse backyard where you can revel in the cool fall weather, hopefully, and jam out to an obscure band that only the true hipster in you will know.
