Chowhound: FIRST Food & Bar at The Palazzo Las Vegas

The first (pun intended) thing to note about FIRST Food & Bar is its location. FIRST Food & Bar is hidden on the 2nd floor in The Shoppes at The Palazzo Las Vegas.  FIRST Food & Bar from Chef Sam DeMarco brings the authenticity and character of the neighborhood bar and diner concept to the Las Vegas Strip, with a modern twist that can only be found in Las Vegas. FIRST Food & Bar is a hip, yet comfortable restaurant and lounge that has the vibe of a late-night spot blended with the casualness of a local eatery.

When looking for a restaurant for a relaxing American meal, FIRST Food & Bar is always on top of my mind. FIRST Food & Bar is great spot for meetings if you're at The Venetian Las Vegas for a conference because relatively quiet during the daytime hours and also an excellent destination before heading out for a night on The Strip.  Also because the food is a twist on traditional bar food, the menu is pretty straight forward but the unique preparation and some offerings will make it look like you found a special place for your friend or business partner.

As for the cuisine, I have never had a bad meal at FIRST Food & Bar and as for some of my favorites; The BBQ Pulled Pork Eggroll on the appetizers are excellent and not as heavy as the name may have you think. Meanwhile the Philly Cheesesteak Dumplings are as heavy and delicious and will have you craving more. However, sometimes the fanciness can get in the way of a good idea. The Blackened Skirt Steak is as good and flavorful as I could have expected, but the Chorizo Potato Hash that accompanied could have been a separate dish altogether.

Another benefit of FIRST Food & Bar being hidden is that they have a lot of specials. There are daily Happy Hour and Wine specials along with evening and weekend specials that can be found on The Palazzo Las Vegas website.  Tempted yet? We’re talking Happy Hour with two-for-one draft beers, Patron Tequilla and Stoli Vodka drinks from 4-6 p.m. and midnight-2 a.m. plus on the late night side there are food specials as well.

FIRST Food & Bar is a hidden gem. Shhhhh.

FIRST Food & Bar is located on the 2nd floor in The Shoppes at The Palazzo Las Vegas and easily located by signs coming from either The Palazzo Las Vegas or The Venetian Las Vegas. Reservations aren't likely needed unless you have a large party.
