Chowhound: Grand Lux Cafe at The Venetian & The Palazzo
There are times where all we need is a good meal so we can move forward with our day. Grand Lux Cafe at both The Venetian Las Vegas and The Palazzo Las Vegas offer just that and truth be told, I've never had a bad meal there. In fact, I've had the best steak and eggs anywhere in Las Vegas at Grand Lux Cafe at The Venetian. Strangely enough, there was something different and a little less stunning with the steak and eggs at The Palazzo location.
To give you a little background, Grand Lux Cafe is a more upscale version of the Cheesecake Factory and the idea came to life when The Venetian asked David Overton, Founder of The Cheesecake Factory restaurants, to create an upscale casual restaurant concept for their property. Grand Lux Cafe now has 13 locations across the country. The portions at Grand Lux Cafe are similar to Cheesecake Factory in size and are always too much for one to eat.
As for the menu itself, Grand Lux Cafe has an eclectic one which offers great variety and selection, with flavor profiles ranging from Thai, Malaysian and Caribbean, to classic American and European specialties. Basically if you are craving something specific, chances are more than likely you’ll find it on the never ending menu at Grand Lux Cafe. To be frank, the menu is a bit too big for me so I pretty much stick to what other people order or basics, like a burger or steak and eggs. I have traveled from all parts of Las Vegas just to end my night with the steak and eggs from Grand Lux Cafe at The Venetian. It's always been worth the cab ride at 6 am, seriously. Grand Lux Cafe is good any time of the day, but the food really comes across as best in class just before bed or when you're waking up from having too much fun the previous night. While we all love a great meal at night, there is always a need for a good, solid meal to begin or end the day and this might be the best in Las Vegas.
A few insider tips: There are spotty mobile phone connections at The Venetian location, so you may not receive calls or data. While The Venetian location is not good for work, it is good for people watching as there is "outside" seating which looks out the The Venetian casino floor. The Palazzo location is next to the showroom.
