Is it Summer already? Well not quite, but pool season in Las Vegas is here, so it’s time to suit up and get out there. Some might say a pool is a pool, when you come down to it: Some blue water, rows of lounges and lot of sweaty bodies. And a pool party? Add alcohol and loud music. All the same, basically.

Don’t judge me because I really enjoy the Barbie Suite. There is something about the pink pillows that makes everything better for me. Do judge me when I tell you that I almost missed my son’s birthday party because the Kingpin Suite had a hold on me and my lack of ability to pick up the 7 – 10 split. Be careful, the Palms Casino Resort can and will distract you into believing that Las Vegas is one non-stop party. However, there is a little something different at the Palms that you don’t find on the strip. There is a local flare. It’s hard to pinpoint but it feels more personal.

Sit by the pool. Or go shopping. You might think your options are limited during the afternoon in Las Vegas. But in addition to outdoor activities and indoor attractions (some even FREE) there are a handful of matinee show that are actually well worth your time.

Do you ever feel like you need some thing to spice up your life? You know that something special that transforms an otherwise drab week into something you tell people about for the next few weeks. The Chateau in Paris Las Vegas. Looking for that authentic “only in Vegas” experience? This is definitely it.

But the evening is just getting started and you don’t want to get there too early. Seeing a show at Paris isn’t a bad idea. They have the Four Seasons tribute Jersey Boys, which is a great time even if you don’t know the original 60s inspirations. Next door at the connected Bally’s casino you can experience the classic showgirl revue Jubilee! Or there’s hypnotist Anthony Cools, a longtime Vegas draw who makes audience members do all kinds of unexpected things.

You’re in Las Vegas, Entertainment Capital of the World, and you want to see something, you know…entertaining! But if country and pop stars like Shania, Faith and Tim, Rod and Celine aren’t your thing, or you’re not in the mood for Cirque du Soleil, it may seem like options are limited.

Not so. There are an incredible variety of regular performers in Las Vegas shows on the Strip for almost any taste.

Hyde Bellagio is the destination, maybe one of the best kept secrets in the world of Las Vegas Nightclubs, if such a thing is possible. The great thing about Hyde, run by the SLS team from LA, is that it’s not another one of these gargantuan thunderdomes with a hundred rooms, three floors, and still nowhere to stand.

There is no reason for you to want to head to Sky Combat Ace to fly a plane and learn to do a few aerial maneuvers. None, whatsoever. Why would you want to fly a plane, get into a dogfight or stall high above the desert and then plunge to the earth at an alarming speed?

You'll need a strong stomach. I'd didn't lose my lunch but a few times I thought my need to over eat was threatening the contents of my digestive system.

A Skybox at the Superdome? That would be the best place anywhere to watch this year’s Super Bowl on Feb. 3. But if you can’t make it there, or another seat inside the Superdome, the second best place in the world has got to be one of the many amazing sportsbooks and sports bars on the Las Vegas Strip.
