A lot's been going on with Las Vegas as the new year gets rolling and all eyes turn to achieving 2015 goals. With so many new venues chomping at the bit to be the "hottest new whatever," or the "most buzzed about new thing" we know that only time will tell who's victorious and who's getting shuttered. Here's a recap of where we stand now, at the beginning of 2015.

Honey I Blew Up The Kid (1992)

Sapphire of Las Vegas, famously known as the world’s largest gentlemen’s club, will be hosting their 12^th annual Martinis & Masquerade extravaganza Thursday, Dec. 11 with a hosted bar from 8 to 10 p.m..  After yet another successful year with over 400,000 visitors, it is time to celebrate at this sexy, swanky club. Partygoers will be dressed in their best masquerade attire and, most likely, anything goes.

When it comes to alcohol consumption, everyone knows that Vegas has a bit of a reputation as the party city. But Vegas isn’t just for those that love yards of beer or plastic containers of frozen alcoholic concoctions, Las Vegas and the surrounding areas are actually a craft brewers paradise.

There are multiple places to get everything from a homegrown IPA to a Sour or even a Firkin in this city from the Strip to the suburban area of Henderson just outside of Vegas, this city offers the beer connoisseur a sip or two of Vegas.

Steve Wynn is undoubtedly sitting pretty on top of any list called something like "Most Influential Forces to Shape Las Vegas," so you can bet his namesake hotel is going to be one of the best on the Strip. A known perfectionist and visionary, Wynn was the man to bring the existence of "mega-resorts" to the country when he opened The Mirage in 1989. Since then, his guiding hand has helped make the city the heaven we know and love today.

XS Nightclub

The Mirage Las Vegas Hotel & Casino recently updated new hours for the infamous volcano feature. The iconic attraction was built in 1989 and is still catching the attention of many Vegas visitors from all around the world. The volcano erupts nightly beginning at 5 p.m. and continues every 30 minutes until 11 p.m., with the exception of 7:30 p.m.. The Mirage also unveiled new hours for Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat as well. These features are now open to the public Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There's nothing like the smell of gasoline and the roar of an engine chomping at the proverbial bit to get your heart pumping. When it comes to Las Vegas, we are definitely not foreigners to the adrenaline chase and some high risk situations. In fact, we've come to make a business out of it. That's why the subject of drag racing has been a recurring conversation in our city and not yet realized to its full potential.

This city is in a content state of flux. We shutter venues and buildings left and right then revel in the excitement of a newcomer, poised to deliver judgement about all faults and strengths since we’re all self-proclaimed experts. And maybe we are. If experience brings us wisdom, then perhaps Vegas can be the perfect judge of character, business and uniqueness.

KISS Rocks Vegas at The Joint - Now open!

Look out world, Absinthe's own Penny Pibbets is going solo and she's off to a strong start! Althought she's diminutive in stature, she's a giant in comedy, so we can only imagine a great time going to see this spitfire performer in her element. Pibbets recently completed a Kickstarter fund to help with the show's production, well exceeding the requested $19,990 goal.

DJMag.com just released its Top 100 list for best DJs worldwide in 2014. According to the rankings, Vegas is the epicenter for getting to hear a plethora of these hot 100 year round.
