The Experience
The art of the long lunch is lost on Americans. I think we don’t value sitting at a restaurant with a glass of red wine while enjoying the scenery enough. We don’t find it necessary to linger over our meal. We are too in a hurry to get to our next appointment or to finish some chores. That is a shame. However, we might be convinced to do that while on vacation and if that is the case we might as well find a spot with great people watching, an impressive wine list and proper food for a long meal. Enoteca Otto in the Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian is your perfect spot.
Who You Are Taking To The Restaurant
I’ll be honest with you when I say that I can take anyone to this spot and have a good time. I just love lingering there. I bet if I took my mother-in-law to Enoteca Otto I would be fine after 3 glasses of a big bodied Barolo. I have sat there with my wife, both in a romantic setting and in a festive setting. I have had a meal with my two boys as a family outing. I’ve eaten alone and had way too much wine and I have conducted business at the table. What I’m saying is that Enoteca Otto is very versatile.
What You’ll Order
No matter what you are eating you will need to have wine. Simple. The Italian dominated wine list is one of my favorites on the Las Vegas strip because of the amount of nice Piedmont wines available. This is a gem! However, you need to eat. The pizzas are among the best in Las Vegas and the pasta is pure Mario Batali. Plenty of authentic flavors and some rich sauces that make serious magic with the right wine. For my money sharing a Caprese salad followed by a Prosciutto Arugula salad and then finished off with Bucatini all’Amatriciana pasta is as good as it gets in Las Vegas.
