Hotel Addict: Taking a Look at Flamingo Las Vegas

Flamingo Las Vegas is one of the oldest casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and as Bugsy Siegel's desert dream, the property has anchored the Las Vegas Strip since it opened in 1946. This self-contained casino and resort offers everything an adventurous vacationer could want; including a Wildlife Habitat and a 15-acre Caribbean-style water playground.

While it may not seem to be a very large resort, Flamingo Las Vegas has 3,545 guest rooms and suites all of which were recently renovated or are in the process of being renovated. The "Go" rooms have a modern Miami Beach feel to them along with top notch audio and video systems in both the main room and the bath room.

One of the highlights at Flamingo Las Vegas is the 15 acre Wildlife Habitat which includes flamingos, swans, quail, turtles, ducks, Japanese koi fish, and more. The habitat is a little serenity in the middle of the chaos of The Strip. All of this is tucked in between multiple hotel towers and has settling streams surrounded by sparkling waterfalls and lush foliage. This is one of the few places you can actually sit outside in the grass in Las Vegas - something that shouldn't be overlooked.

While outside and the weather is warm, you can also enjoy one of two very different pool settings. The Beach Club Pool offers a family-friendly environment while the Go Pool caters to guests at least 18-years-of-age with a cascading waterfall and intertwining lagoons. The Go Pool has 28 cabanas as well as access to Flamingo Beach Club Cafe.

When it comes to gaming, this is one of the hidden gems to test your luck in Las Vegas.  The casino was recently refurbished, but still keeps an old school feeling with its low ceilings and decor.  In addition to all the traditional table games, Flamingo Las Vegas features over 1,600 of the newest slot games on the market.

Flamingo Las Vegas isn't known for its restaurants, but has a variety of dining to fill most cravings including Hamada of Japan, Burger Joint and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. Recently the Margaritaville Casino was also opened to bring Parrothead fun into the casino!  And opening soon is an outpost of the high-energy Mexican eatery, Carlos’n Charlie’s.

And when it comes to entertainment, The Flamingo Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas has many options including Donnie & Marie, George Wallace and Nathan Burton.  X Burlesque, Dirk Arthur and Vinny Favorito also add to the heap of entertainment at the Strip central property.

Flamingo is one of the most overlooked classic Vegas hotel and casinos. While it's one of the oldest casinos on the strip there has been a lot of recent renovations to the rooms, casinos and pools. The price to stay here is on the lower side and one of the best bargains on the strip.
