Las Vegas Hotel: Harrah’s Las Vegas
Location. Location. Location. Step out one door and right across the street from you is an erupting volcano. Walk back through the casino and go out the other door and there is Caesars Palace. Head left and you’ll be in Margaritaville and head right and you’ll be in Venice. It is very hard to top the options you get when staying at Harrah’s until you realize it is also very affordable priced. Great location, great price how much more do you need?
Sleep. The rooms are modern but not luxurious and about average for the Las Vegas strip. That means you still get all the typical Las Vegas hotel amenities without the fancy robes, slippers and luxury hand lotion. With the money you save on the room by a large bottle. Some rooms have been renovated so they actually are above average for Las Vegas but even the “Classic” room type still delivers a clean, spacious spot to rest your head at the end of the day.
Eat. I was a regular at the oyster bar for so long that if someone was sitting in my regular seat I would get annoyed. These days I don’t stop in as much but whenever I do I still find the time for a large bowl of chowder or a half dozen oysters and a beer. Share the Sautéed Clams and a bowl of soup and you leave there with a fairly reasonably priced meal for two. Try KGB for one of the best burgers on the Las Vegas strip. I would suggest a milkshake but be careful because they are so rich and decadent that you might need a nap after your meal. Start with the buffalo chicken rolls and then try to choose between the stuffed spicy burger or the double cheeseburger. Jalapeno or bacon? You make the choice. Upstairs there is a Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the buffet is better than most and if you like your food with some country music Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill will keep you happy.
Experience. Arguably the best show in Las Vegas is at Harrah’s. Mac King Comedy Magic is about as good as it gets. When you consider the price of the ticket and the entertainment you realize that it is hard to beat this afternoon classic. Big Elvis performs in the Piano bar and the Million Dollar Quartet performs nightly in the showroom. If you want a peek into rock’ n roll history you’ll be entertained by this show featuring the music of Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Make sure to stop by the piano bar for a fun night of dueling pianos and the carnival Court for a high energy casual nightlife experience.
