Las Vegas Hotel: MGM Grand Resort
You could get excited about the MGM Grand Resort for so many reasons that it soon becomes apparent to you that it is hard to top this resort for the complete Las Vegas Vacation. At a quick glance you can point to the food choices, the entertainment and the nightlife. Of course if you consider its location and its sprawling pool area you might not be able to ever stay anywhere else.
I’ll point out that its proximity to the New York/New York Hotel, Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo Hotel on the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd make it a convenient headquarters for some serious Las Vegas fun.
Sleep. The MGM Grand really does have it all. You can choose for a non–gaming approach to Las Vegas at The Signature at MGM Grand or you could go super high end at the Sky Lofts. The rooms have all been remodeled so you can expect a new modern look and the disappearance of the movie theme. The rooms are now among the best looking and comfortable on the strip. My personal favorite rooms at the MGM Grand are the Stay Well Rooms. They have taken the approach of helping you refresh while on your Las Vegas vacation and I’m here to tell you that my last visit had me over sleeping 2 days in a row. Listen, I sleep in a lot of hotel rooms and I usually have trouble getting my rest. I’m not sure if it is the air purification system, the EMF protection or the advanced room lighting but something triggered my ability to sleep like a baby. While you are in the room you’ll enjoy the Vitamin C infused shower and the wake up light therapy.
Eat. All the big name chefs have a spot at the MGM Grand. Emeril Lagasse has Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House, Tom Colicchio has Craftsteak and Wolfgang Puck has his bar and grill. That is fine and those places are pretty good. However, there is no way I can tell you about food without pointing out that Joel Robuchon, Chef of the Century, Michelin starred Chef and the king of fine cuisine has two spots in the resort. When I tell you that L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon and Joel Robuchon Restaurant are the best in Las Vegas you have to understand that I have had the opportunity to eat at every spot on the Las Vegas strip more times than I’d like to admit. My opinion might count but ask any people in the know in the food world and they will tell you all about the greatness of Joel Robuchon. Theses two restaurants could be your only reason to visit Las Vegas. I might be crazy about these restaurants but that is simply because they are crazy good.
Play. The MGM Grand is the resort with the huge pool complex and the daylife scene that includes Wet Republic. Every type of guest can find a spot at the pool and have a good time. When the sun goes down the nightlife takes over and Hakkasan is the answer to your every Las Vegas nightlife question. 5 levels that include everything you need to complete a Las Vegas evening. Drinks, dining and dancing all are part of the package.
