Las Vegas Hotel: The D Las Vegas
The D Hotel and Casino Downtown Las Vegas
If you are deciding on a budget vacation but you don’t want to compromise all the quality just to save a buck, The D Hotel is most likely what you are searching for. The entire hotel has been given a major facelift and transformed from Fitzgerald’s to The D Las Vegas. You’ll still get a lingering scent of old Las Vegas but that is part of the beauty of this spot right on Fremont Street and in the center of all the Downtown Las Vegas action.
Sleep. The rooms are modern, roomy and cheap. The new look of the rooms at The D Las Vegas elevate this hotel to among the top 3 in Downtown Las Vegas. In fact, aside from the Rush Tower rooms at Golden Nugget this is the hotel I would be choosing to rest my head in this part of town. All the furniture has been updated, the walls now have stylish photos and the carpets have been replaced. Some rooms even have coffee makers! (Las Vegas doesn’t usually do coffee makers). My gripe would be that the restrooms are still too small and the air conditioning unit was a bit annoying. This is Downtown Las Vegas so you have to be prepared for smaller rooms and less to be happy about. At The D Las Vegas I think they have found that the right amount changes to the old makes the new well worth a visit.
Eat. While they are not attracting the foodies of the world to Downtown Las Vegas with their dining choices they are doing a good job of giving the average Las Vegas visitor some good options. Andiamo Steakhouse will attract the steak lovers who have some history with this Detroit transplant. The steaks are quality and the atmosphere is very much what Las Vegas should be holding on to from the past. Dogs out front from American Coney Dog is another Detroit transplant and if you can have just one chili dog I applaud your discipline.
Experience. The resurgence of Downtown Las Vegas looks very attractive because of properties like The D Hotel. The traditional (old) Downtown Las Vegas look has been abandoned for the newer stylish party scene that is attracting the new Las Vegas visitor. You’ll notice the different vibe in the casino when you sit at the Long Bar and realize that each of these giant television screens can also be seen from the gaming tables. The music, the energy, the atmosphere, is far more lively than you have come to expect from Downtown Las Vegas. The Vue bar upstairs could have a better view but you can catch a glimpse of the Fremont Street Experience and The D Bar is right in all the action on Fremont Street. The Scintas perform nightly and Marriage Can Be Murder delivers a dinner show that is among the best in all of Las Vegas.
