Monday Morning Blues?
Monday morning and you are already thinking about the weekend? Can’t wait for Friday in Las Vegas! You can fantasize but let's not waste time with any missteps. You're going to the hottest club on the Strip, The Marquee, and you want to do this right. The crowning jewel of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Marquee has a bit of a crunch at the door, to say the least, so don't think about being fashionably late, don’t be shy about asking people—politely—where to go, and if you can, make a table reservation.
In either case, you'll want to eat first. The Cosmo has a lot of great choices, but for my money, the classy pick is Comme Ça, a French bistro via LA that has recognizable but still interesting food, and anything from oysters and housemade charcuterie to a great burger or onion soup will be done right. Yes, you can get classic bouillabaisse and even frogs legs, but pork belly or just a fresh salad are equally satisfying. The place has a fantastic view of the Strip, too, whether from a window table or even their outside patio. If you need a romantic spot in Las Vegas this might be your spot
Wanna grab a cocktail while you wait for friends to get their act together? Your best call is the Chandelier bar, with an amazing three-level cocktail program, which happens to be right next to the Marquee entrance. They have good beer, tequila and scotch selections, but also original drinks that will impress even mixology nerds like their famous off-menu Lemon Verbena.
Once inside the Marquee, don’t just dance all night on your booth back or the packed floor (I know, it’s tempting). Force yourself to look around and check out all the different areas, including the sexy pool deck (a day club during sunlight hours), the upstairs “Library room” with its old world vibe and original cocktails, and the downstairs hip hop room, that feels like an underground club. Break a sweat. Make a memory.
As the night ends, you’ll probably be starving again. Where to eat? Easy, back on the third floor, by Jaleo, you’ll see a long hallway with LP covers on the wall. That will lead you to the famous “No-name” Pizza Joint, serving New York style slices until 3 am. Get some of their housemade sausage on a regular slice, or go for their great white pizza. You won’t be mad at it.
Is that enough advice to get you through the week?
