Templeton Rye & Pork Pairing at Delmonico Steakhouse
For one night only, one of the Venetian's shining restaurant stars – Delmonico Steakhouse – is hosting a five-course Templeton Rye Whiskey and pork dinner pairing. The menu infuses pork items with Templeton Rye Whiskey, which was the same whiskey that Al Capone used to flood the streets of Chicago and New York City during the Prohibition Era. Menu items for this dinner include like Cajun Boudin Boulettes, Caramelized Porchetta, Butterscotch Bacon Pudding, and Panéed Pork Chops, to name just a few. Additionally, Max Solano, a master mixologist and the beverage director for Delmonico, has crafted two Templeton Rye cocktails just for the evening. Patrons will be able to order the Mesquite Manhattan, with a bit of Southern kick to it, or the Pomme & Swine, which infuses pork and apple into this oh-so-delectable-sounding cocktail. With specialty cocktails and a menu created by Chef de Cuisine Ronnie Rainwater and Culinary Director Sean Roe as part of The Templeton Rye Heritage Pork Project, it will surely be a pork and whiskey lovers dream What’s unique about this event is it’s likely a once-in-a-lifetime pairing that will be using the Duroc breed of pigs from Iowa, which are fed a diet of “spent Templeton Rye mash.” This is all part of The Templeton Rye Heritage Pork Project, which raises the heritage Duroc breed of pigs in an open-pen setting in order to offer premium-quality pork to consumers. The idea behind the project is to further encompass the farm-to-table movement, but also add a high-pedigree of nutrition to the pigs. In fact, the pigs are grown to approximately 210 pounds, which is a lower weight in the pork industry as it keeps the pigs healthier. Additionally, their diet was curated by Dr. Mark Bertram who has a doctoral degree in swine nutrition. Delmonico Steakhouse has really upped the ante offering this once-in-a-lifetime dinner pairing from the culinary and beverage geniuses at one of Emeril Lagasse’s finest Vegas restaurants.
