The 5 Most Interesting Libations In Vegas
Heading to Las Vegas can be like heading to a whole new world or, rather, several different worlds in one. It’s the destination where anything can happen. It’s also a city known for it’s delectable and, at times, outrageous cuisine and cocktail selections. We’ve outlined five of the most interesting cocktails that you must try (if you can afford them) whether you’re on the Strip, in Downtown, or out and about in the rest of the city.
Caipirinhas at Bazaar Meat
Bazaar Meat, which is in the new SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, is a restaurant that breaks the mold of the average dining establishment. Even the ambiance is a bit, well, bizarre, but in an intriguing way. When you’re dining here, you have to order the Caipirinhas, which is a tableside cocktail that has a lot of booze, citrusy flavors and smokes. Yep, that’s right, it smokes. This cocktail is made with liquid nitrogen in an up-close-and-personal display of mixology that will have you in awe.
Ass Juice at Double Down Saloon
While it’s probably the most disgusting sounding cocktail ever, it doesn’t really induce the gag reflex too much as long as you can handle drinking something that is a well-kept secret among the bartenders as not one alcohol flavor can be identified. Found at the Double Down Saloon, located off of Paradise and Flamingo – right next to the south Strip – is a raucous dive bar. However, the patrons and staff are welcoming to everyone, even if you’re not dressed in a leather coat or NOFX T-shirt, which is the standard dress of customers here. Ordering the Ass Juice will only set you back $3 unless you opt for it the souvenir toilet bowl it can also be served in, which simply adds to the must-do Vegas list.
Oyster Shooters at Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood
When it comes to slurping up oysters, Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood hotspot takes it to a whole new level. By offering six different oyster shooter cocktails with ingredients like beer or gin infused with cucumber – each topped with an elegantly displayed oyster. The different varieties of shooters are available based on your preferred tastes, but they are definitely worth ordering at least once.
The Verbena at Chandelier Bar
When the East Coast trend of cocktail flavor tripping went big, that trend did in fact reach the West Coast and landed right at the Chandelier Bar on the one and a half floor of the Cosmopolitan. This is where you go a little Alice In Wonderland and head down the rabbit hole, but only metaphorically, by eating a flower known as the Szechuan Button. From there, your mixologist creates a beverage laced with ginger, lemongrass, lime and a few other ingredients to help you enjoy the explosive flavors of this firework-in-your-mouth-like cocktail.
FIZZ Deluxe at Fizz Champagne Lounge
While this isn’t the strangest drink in town, rather it made the list because you’re drinking 24-karat gold. Well, actually, you’re not drinking it, but rather potentially eating it. This opulent cocktail is made topped with a gold dusted rose petal on top of Champagne mixed with egg whites, lemon juice, cognac and Grand Marnier Quintessence. Oh, by the way, it’ll only set you back about $2,500 for one cocktail.
