The Halloween Party You Should Be Planning For Now
If there was ever a better time to party in Las Vegas, Halloween weekend would have to be it. A place where you can get costumed and wander around the Strip among the other Halloween zealots enjoying the zaniness that comes to life each year in the city of sin.
Not only is it the perfect weekend to get away to Vegas (because hotel rooms and flights are commonly less expensive), but the best Halloween party of your life will commence on Friday, October 31. That’s right, it’s the Fetish & Fantasy Ball, a party that was rated ‘One of the Top 10 Events’ by Travel Channel and ‘One of Earth’s Best Bashes’ by Stuff magazine.
The party all starts at 10 p.m. on Halloween Night at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. This annual bash combines a costume party with nightclub ambiance and adds a twist of theatrics to boot. The ball usually brings about 7,500 attendees – all of which must wear a costume – and it goes until 4 a.m. with several DJs performing in various rooms. This year, though, you’ll want to snag your tickets early.
“With the event actually on Halloween, we expect a complete sell out at 7,800 people,” said Kerry Schatz a producer and promoter for the event. “We have people who have been buying tickets every year, some for more than 10 years now. Once you’ve been, you’re hooked.”
Fetish & Fantasy Ball initially began in 1996 when 400 people filled two levels of a former vintage clothing store in town.
“[The] main floor was emptied to house a dance area, the second floor featured comedic and theatrical performances, and bands played out back,” recalls Schatz. “From those humble beginnings, the current world renowned event was born.”
The whole ball is separated into four rooms including the Zombie Wasteland (main room), Electric Forrest, the Red Room of Pleasure, and a room dedicated soley to VIP attendees. The Zombie Wasteland features artists like Scooter & Lavelle, Donald Glaude, DJ Skribble and DJ Reza – all of which will predominately play electronic dance music (EDM), hip hop, mash ups and top 40. If that’s not your thing music-wise, then head to the Electric Forrest for everything musically opposite of the Zombie Wasteland.
For those on the fence about heading to the event, don’t shy away especially not because of the name. Schatz explains that it’s a great event for anyone looking to try something new rather than visit the same boring Halloween party.
“Fetish is not a bad word, nor is Fantasy,” Schatz said. “The event is crafted to have non-stop entertainment that leaves customers enthralled, not offended, and wondering what’s next.”
And there will be plenty to see and do. Not only can you dance away the night, but you can do a little shopping as well in case you forgot that costume accessory.
“Wide variety of vendors from leather goods, lingerie and accessories, to caricature artists and fortunetellers,” Schatz said. “A little bit of everything.”
One of the most intriguing features at the show is in the Red Room of Pleasure where you can see what’s happening on the X-Stage or check out the human petting zoo. Yes, that’s right, a human petting zoo (it’s not as crazy as it sounds).
“The Human Zoo, a crowd favorite, where body painted “animals” wander loose in their simulated natural habitat, posing for pictures, etc,” Schatz said.
Wherever you go, though, you’ll come across performers of all kinds like costumed stilt walkers, a horde of zombies interspersed through the crowd and more. On the main stage, you’ll be entertained with vignettes from fire breathers, burlesque dancers, aerialists and so much more – things that can’t possibly be explained, but rather can only be seen to fully appreciate.
“It has multiple elements that appeal to a wide arrange of people,” Schatz said. “There is constant action and surprises, along with interactive activities, shopping, demonstrations, and social interaction, not to mention incredible music, dancing and performances.”
The entire event is all about bringing the insanity of Halloween to a whole new level all in one venue. This event is for those who want to experience the best Halloween party ever and see some of the craziest costumes, performers and all out Halloween madness.
“We have 21-year-olds at our party and we have 60-year-olds at the party,” said Schatz. “Very diverse group with everyone interacting with one another and having a great time.
