The Halloween Scene in Sin City

This isn't your average 7-year-old's Halloween. We won't be talking princess costumes without mentioning thigh-highs and we won't be covering how to check your kid's candy for razor blades. This is Halloween in Vegas and it's every ghoul for themselves. But where to get your adult tricks and treats? Sure, some of these items below can be attended by a 7-year-old-princess, but let's aim a bit higher and assume it's for the delightfully fun degenerate adults we know and love.

Fetish & Fantasy Ball | October 31, Hard Rock Hotel

Yes, it's true that almost every nightclub in Vegas is going to host some sort of Halloween-themed night and you'll likely have a  good time no matter what you choose, but there is one event that stands tall above the rest. We're talking the Fetish & Fantasy Ball and there's many things to be said about how epic this Halloween party is. (In fact, calling it a "party" seems belittling to what it really is. How about "a raucous bacchanal of a masquerade, swimming in the glittery pool of Vegas nightlife?" Here you'll see some of the more serious costumes, usually with a dash of sexual appeal or a blatant tip-of-the-hat to fetishes of all kinds. With both scheduled and impromptu entertainment mingling around you and your fellow costumed adventurers, your night will end up being like something out of a trippy music video where you're like "I'm terrified. Or am I turned on?" Just go with it, friends.

Fright Dome | Now - November 1, Circus Circus Adventuredome

It's that time of year where the happy-go-lucky, candy-coated, multicolored extravaganza known as the Adventuredome is transformed into the thing of nightmares. Especially if your nightmares involve Leatherface and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That is this year's theme for Fright Dome and all scaredy-cats are invited to face their fears through Halloween by wandering through this bevy of terrors. You'll be able to white-knuckle grip the arms of your friends and family through haunted houses and scare zones, except the Isolation Haunted House where you'll be fending for yourself. That's right, you're solo and trying not to cry for your mom when the ghouls come out to get you. Ready for more after that? How about Hillbilly Hell Offspring or Killer Clown 4-D? The undead await in Zombie Quarantine 2.0, or you can finagle your way through the scariest maze in Dead End. Looking for a Vegas-y version of a Haunted House? Check out the Hyper Charged Scare Zone with interactive performers, hatching beats, and visual laser displays.

Haunted Reef | October 31 - November 2, Mandalay Bay Shark Reef

This is somewhere you can bring your adorable 'lil 7-year-old princess or Iron Man too while still enjoying your adult alcohol buzz you've got going on. If you've never toured an exhibit or museum with a 'lil Captain in you, or whatever, then you really should try it and see how much more you learn. Enthusiasm levels go up exponentially after a drink, doesn't it? Anywho, check out the Haunted Reef during the haunted holiday and you'll see that the normally serene quiet of exploring their aquariums are now filled with eerie creaks, chains, groans and moans. Of course, if you're already scared of marine life, specifically sharks or piranhas, you'll be scared of this place any time of year. Those predators lurking in the water will be yours to see for free if you're brave (and generous) enough to donate blood at the United Blood Services booth from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the 31st.

Hyde Nightclub & Fright Dome | October 28, Bellagio

This is one special night out on the town that you won't want to miss. The beautiful Hyde Nightclub is teaming up with some terrifying characters from Fright Dome for a haunted nightlife experience. In the words of SNL's Stefon, "this club has everything!" Scary performers, DJ Joe Maz pumping beats, and ticket giveaways to the haunted attraction supplying your screams. Hyde will also play host to more parties, like the Halloween Masquerade on Oct. 30 and Hyde In The Dark on Oct. 31, where musical duo Konflict will be DJing.

Bonnie Screams | Now - November 1, Bonnie Springs Canyon

The spot usually designated to get in touch with the Vegas valley's natural beauty has transformed into a frightening series of haunted explorations. Bonnie Screams totes four haunted areas, the Psych Ward, Circus of Chaos, Backwoods Massacre and Haunted Forest for those brave enough to trespass into the spirit world. Our own writer Katie Kelley recently visited to check out the spooky spot that has an actual history of ghost sightings from the early settlers of the area. One awesome perk of this spot? They have a bar. Helpful when you're out in the wilderness and far from the safety of our city's bright lights.
