The Insider: Chinese New Year Celebrations in Las Vegas

Year of the Dragon in well underway and to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year on Monday, January 23, Las Vegas is doing its part to make sure the festivities are top notch.  From The Venetian Las Vegas and The Palazzo Las Vegas to Bellagio Las Vegas and Las Vegas’ Chinatown, there are a handful of celebrations for you to experience.

Fremont Street Experience

In conjunction withthe Las Vegas City Council, CHD, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and Golden Catalyst, Fremont Street Experience is proud to play host to the first-ever Chinese New Year celebration to Downtown Las Vegas.  Chinese New Year – Dragon in the Desert will celebrate the Year of the Dragon from Jan. 24 – 28 with a 5-day festival featuring many of the traditional and symbolic elements needed to wish good fortune to all.

The Venetian Las Vegas and The Palazzo Las Vegas

Beginning with a ceremonial dragon dance at 1 p.m. on Jan. 23, the Chinese New Year celebrations include lavish feng shui-inspired décor, auspicious dish offerings and festive cocktails. Click HERE to read more details including the 128-foot fire-breathing dragon at The Palazzo.

Bellagio Las Vegas

The Bellagio Conservatory has transformed from the winter wonderland to a fantastic Chinese New Year display honoring the mythical creature that symbolizes good fortune and power. A serene sanctuary guided by the ancient practice of Feng Shui - the art of using surroundings to attract harmony, balance and positive life energy - is on view through March 4.  For the first time during Bellagio’s Chinese New Year display, the Conservatory will feature live entertainment. The Las Vegas-based “Beijing Trio” will perform traditional folk and pop music with authentic Chinese instruments including the erhu, ruan and pipa. Complimentary performances take place 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., daily, within the wing-tipped Ming Dynasty-style gazebo in the South Garden, for the duration of the exhibit. Chinatown

Located just west of the Las Vegas Strip, Chinatown is the place to be on Saturday, January 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The Chinese New Year celebration will feature traditional foods, exhibits and entertainment for the entire family. Entertainment will occur between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. For additional information, please click HERE.
