The Insider: Labor Day Weekend in Las Vegas Part II
Your desk-side calendar may say that summer doesn’t end until Sept. 21, but by then you’ve already returned to school or tried to hold on to a few memories of your summer vacations as you settle back in to work.
In Las Vegas, the unofficial last day of summer is Sept. 3, Labor Day. The three-day weekend serves as the last stand for more than 300,000 visitors as they take in shows, soak in the sun and dance into the wee hours of the night one last time before returning to life as normal.

Friday, Aug. 31
- Break-neck rapper Busta Rhymes has put on some legendary shows at Tao Nightclub and the multi-talented entertainer will return to the venerable hotspot inside The Venetian Las Vegas to help kick off another memorable Labor Day Weekend celebration.
- LMFAO has become the party duo in the music scene and SkyBlu brings the revelry to Pure Nightclub inside Caesars Palace Las Vegas where he will be sure to help you Party Rock your way through the weekend.
- DJs Porter Robinson and Steve Aoki pair up to put on an outdoor nighttime party at Surrender Nightclub inside Encore Las Vegas. Robinson has skyrocketed to fame in a short time with his electro house style and Aoki is known for his antics at the turntables, which includes a nightly spraying of champagne on the crowd.
- Swedish-born DJ Avicii is barely old enough to enter the clubs he plays in, but that hasn’t stopped him from reaching No. 6 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ list. Avicii returns to Marquee Nightclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas where he has quickly made a home for himself.
- 1OAK at the Mirage Las Vegas jumps into its first Las Vegas Labor Day Weekend party with a performance by Tyga, who scored a top hit with his song “Rack City.”
Saturday, Sept. 1
- Saturday marks a big day for the world’s top DJs in Las Vegas and none is bigger than the mouse head wearing Deadmau5, who will bring his amazing lights and sounds to Tryst Nightclub inside Wynn Las Vegas.
- Kaskade has become one of the city’s most beloved DJs thanks to his poolside performances over the last couple of summers. The American house DJ brings his beats inside at Marquee Nightclub where his residency has helped turned the club into one of the best in the world.
- Scottish DJ Calvin Harris returns to Surrender Nightclub where his residency has been packed with memorable performances. Burns, a Deadmau5 protégé, will also make an appearance.
- Hip hop icon Diddy makes at least one yearly trip to Las Vegas to host the biggest party of the weekend and this time he’s coming to Chateau Nightclub at Paris Las Vegas.
- Travie McCoy has successfully broken out on his own after finding fame with Gym Class Heroes. The singer brings his top solo hits like “Cupid’s Chokehold,” to Pure Nightclub where he will perform within arm’s reach of the packed crowd.
- Pauly D found fame on “Jersey Shore,” but he has since shown that he’s more than a one trick pony. He will bring his blowout and eclectic music samplings to Vanity Nightclub at Hard Rock Hotel, where his residency has helped spark his DJing career.
- Speaking of reality TV stars, Ice T and Coco will host the party at LAX Nightclub inside Luxor Las Vegas. The couple, who star in “Ice T Loves Coco,” are Vegas regulars and are sure to keep the party vibe going throughout the night.
- Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas returns to Rain Nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort. The lesser-known member of the group has shown he can put on a performance during his residency at Rain Nightclub where he has enticed the nightly crowds of 4,000-plus revelers.
Sunday, Sept. 2
- David Guetta has become a mainstream name lately thanks to his work with top artists like Usher, but he returns to his roots as a DJ with a performance at XS Nightclub inside Wynn Las Vegas.
- Grammy-nominated producer and DJ Afrojack returns to Surrender Nightclub to close out the weekend with Sidney Sampson.
- Highly-acclaimed DJs Erick Morillo and DJ Vice get the party going at sister clubs Tao Nightclub and Lavo Nightclub with two wild performances. Morillo will spin at Tao Nightclub inside The Venetian Las Vegas, while DJ Vice returns for his legendary Sunday residency at Lavo Nightclub inside The Palazzo Las Vegas.
- Donald Glover is most known as a writer for the hit show “30 Rock,” but sometimes he uses his prose to put together raps under the stage name Childish Gambino. He will bring his lyrics to 1OAK Nightclub where he will help close down the club’s first LDW celebration.
- Former No. 1 DJ Paul Van Dyk comes to Haze Nightclub inside Aria at CityCenter Las Vegas where his electronic dance beats will combine with the majestic lights and performers for a wild experience.
Monday, Sept. 3
- Labor Day Weekend is a big event for Las Vegas and it should end with a memorable performance. None would be bigger than Deadmau5 taking over XS Nightclub inside Wynn Las Vegas. The world’s top DJ will bring a concert-style performance to one of the city’s biggest and most expensive clubs to help send off another wild Vegas summer.
