Vegas Pool Party Dress Code & Style Guide
Many people come into Vegas thinking that only the night clubs have a dress code policy, and that you’re free to roam the pool in your man-kini and crocs. Most don’t put much effort into their swim attire. This puts you, our loyal readers, at an advantage to stand out amongst the crowd. Even if Vegas has the tendency to bring out your inner hot mess, at least look sharp from sunrise until sundown. Here is our style guide for Vegas Pool Parties.
Gentleman
Shirts
Plain T's or V-necks are perfect for walking through the hotel to get to the pool. Sleeveless tanks are generally acceptable just make sure they are stylish and wouldn't be mistaken for athletic wear. Our favorite shirt to hit the pool with is a linen guayabera, breathable and stylish. Here is an example:
Shorts
If you didn’t get the memo board shorts that reach your shins haven’t been in since eary 2000’s. However, neither are short shorts from the 70's. There is a middle ground to be found. Here is an example of what we're talking about:
Footwear
If you are a true dandy and wish to stand out among the crowd you are going to have to upgrade your footwear game and ditch the standard flip-flops. Walking in to most pool parties with athletic footwear or hard-soled shoes is a no-no, so even if you have a pair a of sweet ferragamo monks you like to wear sock-less, I would advise against it. Here are a few timeless options that will help you stand out:
White Canvas Sneakers
A pair of fresh white Chuck Taylor’s or Jack Purcell’s will help tie together any beach look. This is a staple that will help you blend seamlessly into the trendy pool party crowd.
Espradilles
Boat/Sperry’s are out and these tropical syle pieces are in. TOM’s has similar styles but opting for a traditional style will look a lot more fashion forward. These can be worn sockless or with no show socks.
Huaraches
This is about as dressy and classy as it get when it comes to beach wear, leather huaraches are the latest and hottest trend. These can also be worn sockless.
Ladies
You’ll want to make sure that you have a shawl of some sort to covero-up for when you are walking through the hotel and waiting in line. Also, don't forget to where some super cute wedges or even an adorable Grecian style sandal. Whatever you decide to wear, make sure you keep your shoes on, as it's Vegas and about a million people have walked where you're about to, so keep those toesies locked in your sandal.
The Bikini
This season is ripe with amazing bikini trends, but we are absolutely loving the neon colors with geometric patterns.
One Piece Swimsuit
The one piece suit isn't as traditional as it used to be, now you can get a super sexy one piece suit
Temporary Tattoos
The accent for most every pool party this season is the temporary tattoo in gold, silver or bronze. Stick with organic patterns and place them on your upper arm, your shoulder or your feet and hands for a super sexy, sleek look.
As I’m sure you fashion forward ladies know by know, the one piece swimsuit has made a comeback and is no longer reserved for grandma. That being said, you’ll want to opt for more stylish or patterned options to avoid the plain jane label. Vintage style one-pieces will further assist in helping you achieve that timeless look.
When in doubt you can always opt for a hybrid.
What Not To Wear
A Vegas pool party to the the may seem like a casual event to the uninitiated, but it’s special occasion like any other and you’ll want to avoid looking like a dud or worse… not being let in. Here is a long laudry list of things to leave at home:
Undershirts (undergarments in general), cut-off shorts and all athletic wear like gym shorts, trainers and sports jerseys are forbidden. See through garments. Super long white T’s or shirts with offensive print, chains, or baggy clothes. No torn or cutoff clothing. No clothing with studs, hooks, or rivets. It shouldn’t have to be said but no string-and-pasties ensembles or male thongs. General appropriateness is highly encouraged.
