What To Wear: Winter Fashion In Vegas

The seasons are quickly evolving into the end of the year and it's time to start planning how amazing you're going to look with the new twists & turns the weather is going to bring you! We've covered What To Wear This Fall in Las Vegas, but things are getting a bit chillier...well, as "chilly" as things get out here in the Vegas desert, but now it's time to think about what to wear in Las Vegas this winter.

Leggings & A Good Sweater

Leggings Yep, this duo is a classic and comes as no surprise on this list. We all love a great pair of form-fitting leggings to easily tuck into your fall boots and always looks good when paired with a sweater of any type. Bulky, cozy, fishermen sweaters and tight, smooth, cashmere work wonders when you've got a good basic pair of leggings to sport with it. Still...we can't help but crave a bit more...pizzazz! Look no further than scoring yourself a pair of Blackmilk leggings. Putting all other clothes to shame, Blackmilk touts tons of crazy patterns and designer nylon-licious items. Bodysuits, swimsuits, dresses, skirts, catsuits, everything unique and a few collections of nerdy patterns (Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, Star Wars) make this company one of my new faves. Yes, they're a bit more costly than the leggings you're picking up at Target, but trust me, this is a purchase well spent and the quality of the fabrics are better than I've found anywhere else. When sporting my Spartans PVC Leggings, strangers want to touch my legs, but fear doing so since it makes me look like a superhero packing nunchucks somewhere. And that's a good thing.

Solo Earring

SoloEarring With all those layers you're packing on, you may feel like the kid in a Christmas Story and you can't put your arms down in most other states, but in Vegas, we take those layers up a notch with crazy-cool accessories. Try a statement earring this winter with one truly badass earring. It no longer has to look super-punk or like you just forgot the other side. This look has even been spotted on the runway for high-end designers. I feel like this is a good opportunity to show off your personality a bit with earrings that mean something to you and are a work of art. They have to be gorgeous to be sharing the stage with your darling face, so pick your favorite colors and textures, of course always coordinating with what you've got on the rest of your bod.

Blanket Scarves

Blanket Scarves FINALDon't let that cold snap turn you into a sour-puss, layers are your friend! One of the newest trends coming up in winter fashion is called the Blanket Scarf and I immediately thought of how perfect that is for the Vegas winter season. A bit more chic than a regular poncho, you can wrap yourself with some pretty gorgeous fabrics with fringe, fur, or patterned accents. This striped woven alpaca-blend shawl from Net-A-Porter is particularly gorgeous (look at those pom-pom fringes!) but there are some less costly options popping up in department stores and online if you poke around.

Chic Jackets

Jackets Another nice thing about the Vegas winter? The fact that your fall jackets basically carry over into the rest of the year. It still gets cold (in the 30 to 40 degree Fahrenheit range) and you can use some chic fur and shearling accents to stay cozy. Plus, nothing keeps the cold out like some amazing leather. The real thing is best, however some of us have student loans and bills to pay, so I like faux leather layered with hoodies and long sleeves. If you have the means, I highly suggest that delicious scented leather jacket you've been eyeing.

Zippers, Plaid & Tartan Patterns, and Pink

PlaidPinkZip When we start talking about patterns, color and accents this season, there are a few frontrunners to note. Zipper detail is apparently back in fashion and can tie into a lot of what we've already covered above. Put those functional-yet-stylish metal strips on your jackets, leggings, pants, purses and even shoes when you find them. One of the most popular winter patterns you'll see almost every year is the cozy-inducing plaid and tartan patterns. A little bit lumberjack, a little bit cabin in Mount Charleston, plaid clothing items are always a good layering item or on its own. Play with the androgyny of plaid and tartan and pair it with some gaudy statement necklaces and cuff bracelets. Blackmilk actually has some great tartan items, too. Roll those sleeves up and get baking those holiday treats while looking uber-cute. Oh, and before we go out on that note, it should be brought up that everyone is saying the color pink, specifically pastel pink, is what to wear this winter. It seemed random to me at first, but now that I think about it, it's a good way to brighten and soften those winter looks by bringing a bit of Spring in prematurely.

In a nutshell, you can get away with a lot of Fall clothing during the Vegas winter, which makes it every girl's favorite fashion season, just extended. Pack a few trendy layers with the tips I've sorted out above and a really great coat, and you'll feel fab all season long in Sin City. Follow Galavantier's Wear In Vegas board on Pinterest!
