Where To Rev & Ride in Sin City
If you’re headed to Vegas and you’ve got to leave the bike behind, not to fret, there are ample places in Sin City to rent a motorcycle and even more options for opening it up on the road.
First things first, acquiring a rental.
It all depends on what you prefer to ride and if you’d rather stick to what you know or try that bike you’ve had your eye on, but never been able to afford. At Harley Davidson you can rent everything from that Heritage Softail to the Road King or Electra Glide (in case you need ample room to pack up some stuff for a road trip). Rates per day are usually under $200 a day or around $1,000 per week.
Would you rather wrap your legs around at Triumph? Then stick with Vegas Motorcycle Rentals (Freedom Cycle Rentals) as they are the official Triumph rental agency in Nevada. Rates on average are around $150 per day. Interested in riding that Indian, then Eagle Rider is the place to do it. With rates as low as the $700’s per week, you’ll be in for a very special treat when you get on this classic ride.
Now that you’ve got your ride for the week and they’ve hooked you up with all the necessities (don’t forget helmets must be worn in the state of Nevada), it’s time to hit the open road. It depends on your rental agreement as to how far you can go, but we suggest hitting the following spots for a day out or to be gone a few days.
Day riders can head to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (park passes are $10 for motorcycles) for some stunning views of this very gorgeous park. If you’re looking for more of a mountainous feel, but still are only down for a day trip, head to Mount Charleston. It’s much cooler once you get out of Vegas and on the road to this otherworldly spot only an hour or so outside of the city. There are lot’s of twists and turns in the road and be prepped for traffic if you’re headed to either Red Rock Canyon or Mount Charleston on the weekend.
Would you rather get in some open road night driving? Take a ride to the Hoover Dam, which is lit up at night and boasts some interesting desert riding, plus you can stop to stretch your legs to check out this historic landmark.
Another great day trip takes you to Rhyolite, an old mining town that has turned into an interesting little ghost town filled with modern-day sculptures like the life-size hooded figures of The Last Supper.
If getting out of Vegas, but still checking out some gambling is your thing, then head straight west to Pahrump. A windy, mountain-ish drive followed by a straight road and desert will take you right to this little gambling city.
To really experience what it’s like to ride in the desert and end up in awe-inspiring beauty, then pack a blanket and drive to Zion National Park. One of the most stunning places you’ll ever encounter, the ride is beautiful and you couldn’t ask for a better way to feel like Dennis Hopper or Peter Fonda in Easy Rider camping under the stars and being on the open road.
