Your Weekend at Wynn and Your Evening at Tryst
The weekend gets here and you’ve decided you’re heading to Vegas and you’re not going to sleep and you will get every last inch out of the experience. Don’t blow this. You need the right moves to make the entire weekend a success. This is how to roll a seven.
Tryst is the club you’re going to tonight, at the Wynn resort. No, it’s not as “hot” as Wynn’s other clubs, XS and Surrender, but it books the same DJs and is definitely easier to manage. Plus, it’s still a gorgeous moon-shaped room wrapped around a cool lagoon. Forget what the trendoids tell you, Tryst is still a great night out.
But even if you’re landed and checked in, you don’t want to get there early. There’s a lot of other cool stuff to check out at Wynn—amazing shopping, an incredible floral display, crazy artwork. Just wander around. You’ll be surprised what pops out at you. You don’t even have to see the show Le Reve to think you’re dreaming.
If you’re here on a romantic weekend, or a girls’ outing, you should seriously consider a spa visit. The Encore spa is literally like a magical exotic world, and whatever their day fee is, it’s worth it. You will actually want to spend a whole afternoon inside. Hint: Try the Encore Escape Treatment and you will start saying lomi lomi on a regular basis.
If you’re with the guys, a splurge on a golf round might be worth considering…but if that’s beyond your budget, drinks and a bite in the incredibly authentic Country Club won’t seem like a consolation prize. If you decide to hit the links get there early and stick around a little longer. The locker room feels classy, the greens are quick and the fairways are like velvet. Have a drink on the patio and look out on to the course to help you make it last a little longer.
Actually, if drinking is the thing, you’re definitely in the right place. Wynn was one of the first Vegas resorts to take mixology seriously, and they still offer different signature cocktails at every one of their bars. If one place doesn’t interest, move onto the next. Every restaurant has different drinks, no kidding. Then there’s the huge wine selection at La Cave, too.
Maybe eating wouldn’t be a bad idea. You could just go casual with some share plates at La Cave or Andrea’s, or even a decent pizza at Allegro (by the way, Wynn is also the most veggie/vegan-friendly Vegas Casino, if you’re the meat-free type). But hey, this is a special weekend, you should do something special, right?
Go to Mizumi, the Japanese restaurant that’s actually right above Tryst. This isn’t just another “sushi joint.” It might be one of the most beautiful restaurants you’ve ever walked into, all surrounding a waterfall and koi pond (a different one than Tryst’s!) There are live sushi and charcoal teppanyaki stations you can sit at, or get a table and sample from both of those plus amazing specialties like Wagyu short rib, Ishiyake Tartare Bi Bim Bap and fresh tempura. They have a nice sake list here too.
And I’d be willing to bet, if you tell your server that you’re headed downstairs to Tryst afterward, they will help you get there as fast as possible.
Special thanks to E.C. Gladstone, Las Vegas writer, cocktail genius and food fanatic who helped with this peice. By the way he should not be let out onto the golf course
