The El Cortez is an iconic site in Las Vegas and lives in the heart of Fremont East downtown. It is the longest, continuously operating hotel and casino in Las Vegas and has been frequented by some of the biggest names in Sin City history. It’s official; Vegas visitors will have a brand-spanking new concert, boxing and sports arena – the first new one in 30 years. MGM Resorts International broke ground recently on the 20,000-seat arena that will be located between New York-New York and Monte Carlo resorts. The arena is expected to be open for business in 2016.

While officials don’t have any national sports tenants signed yet, they are planning at least 100 events annually ranging from concerts to Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) events and other sporting events.
