5 Secrets to Uncover The Best of Mandalay Bay
In order to fully grasp all there is to offer inside Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, you'd likely need a solid week to peruse, sip, savor and explore all of their venues. Actually, I just did the math and it'd take a full month to just have a dinner at each restaurant inside this gargantuan hotel and casino. Never fear, dear readers, we've been friends with this casino for many years and can help you comb through the must-see's inside that you won't want to miss.
Rx Boiler Room
One of my favorite restaurants on the Vegas Strip, Rx Boiler Room (pronounced "Rick's Boiler Room") is one of the first venues you'll see when rising up on Mandalay Bay's escalator into The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay. Steampunk-licious and truly holding its own in terms of cuisine and mixology, Rick Moonen has developed quite a unique fine dining experience. Their tableside cocktail is a tribute to the restaurant's love for alchemy and is like a chemistry experiment right in front of you. Plus, the cocktail serves two, so it's like a mini-show that packs a serious boozy punch. What's not to miss on the menu? The unforgettable Bacon Wrapped Bacon n' Egg. Order two. Or five. It's that good.
Moorea Beach Club
You can't avoid the "toptional" side of Vegas forever, and you shouldn't want to. Especially when we're talking about Moorea Beach Club, the European-style pool that coined and trademarked the toptional term. I don't know what it is about Moorea's luxe decorations that makes it one of my favorites. Maybe it's the way the sexy red hues of their cabanas and daybeds add contrast to the crystal blue pools filled with beautiful people. Or perhaps it's the view of the Mandalay Bay Beach down below. Whatever it is that is working for Moorea, it's calling your name and ready for you to arrive.
Foundation Room
Offering arguably the best view of Vegas, the Foundation Room sits on the top of Mandalay Bay and guests can explore seven different rooms like the Buddha and Ganesh Prayer Rooms, a Gothic Room and the 1856 Room. My favorite part is how dimly lit they keep the whole venue. It allows for an attractive glow from anyone sipping cocktails on their plush couches while simultaneously allowing the lights of the Vegas Strip to glitter through the windows and onto the balcony. Another perk is their Media Room, which allows patrons to view concerts going on inside the House of Blues through life feeds on television screens.
Dog-friendly Rooms
The Delano (formerly THEhotel) is still staying true to one of it's signature amenities that is kind of a rare find on the Strip: Dog-friendly hotel rooms. Because Fido deserves a little Sin City, too. There are certain precautions taken, of course, like not leaving your dog behind in the room outside of their crate and an extra deposit, but I suppose it depends on what kind of vacation you were aiming for when bringing your dog in the first place. If your goal was to snuggle with puppy after a day at the pool and order room service together, then this is your jam.
Minus5 Ice Lounge
I love a good fur coat, but seldom get to wear one now that I live in the desert. It's a tough life. But hark! What's that you say, Minus5 Ice Lounge? I can bundle up and drink inside you whenever I want? Cheers to that! Don one of the snowy white fur coat, hat and gloves because it's a chilly -5 degrees Celsius inside (or 23 degrees Fahrenheit for those of us that never adopted the metric system). All furniture is sculpted from pure Canadian glacial ice and backlit with shifting colors. Sadly, cell phones aren't allowed inside the icy cocktail room to take your Instagram selfies, but just use it as practice for the Apocalypse. That is, if you were to choose to spend the Apocalyptic years inside the Arctic circle, for some horrible reason, but I digress.
