Be A Rock Star At The Hard Rock Hotel
Is it wrong that I want to pretend I’m a rock star? You can do it. You can stroll through the lobby and feel like the party is about to break out and you’ve learned how to handle the groupies. The Hard Rock Hotel has a reputation to uphold and you can be sure to add to the legend. However, I should add that with a few tips you can have the rock star atmosphere and plenty of that rest and relaxation that you might be seeking. You should walk around and look at the memorabilia on the walls. I would not suggest touching any of the motorcycles in the lobby, they frown on you getting too close, or so that’s what I was told by the big guy in the security uniform.
Sleep. The décor in the rooms make me believe that if I was a real cool designer without cats and kids this is what my apartment in the city would look like. At times some of the extras seem over the top but if you want to step out like a rock star you can do it and then come back for that afternoon nap to some extreme comfort. The tub is big enough for two and if you are going to live it up like a rock star…when in Rome, right? The large couch and the flat screen television help you kill time while your groupies get ready in the over-sized restrooms.
Eat. When I tell you that everyone should experience Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s talent I’m really saying that you are crazy if you don’t go in and at least try one thing at Nobu. The sushi is spectacular but it’s the combination of fresh fish and high quality ingredients that tantalize your palate. If you want to go a bit more casual I’d order some sangria and the Tijuana Steak Tacos at Pink Taco. Culinary Dropout is the anti-foodie spot. It has all the little things that you should have to be cool for the food people but the whiskey, the beers and the attitude make it better than that. It’s the guy wearing torn jeans because he actually wore them out and not because he picked them out in a catalog. Don’t forget the fresh donuts at FUEL, they are mildly addictive.
Relax. Don’t be fooled by the idea of relaxing by the pool at the Hard Rock Hotel. This is a party and if you really think you are going to read a book by the pool on a weekend you clearly have been living under a rock. Don’t worry, Reliquary Spa and Salon will soothe the side of you that requires some relaxation. Try the Puddle of Mud treatment and appreciate getting a little dirty.
Dance. You can dance at Vanity (try to check out the women’s restroom, it is way over the top) but you owe it yourself to see a live act at the joint. It’s quaint, the sound is perfect and the energy makes you want to move. Step into the Ainsworth if you want a drink and a spot to watch a game.
