Date Night in Las Vegas: Mandalay Bay

Let’s assume you and your partner have really busy lives. Let’s also assume that you need a little time away from the family. You are not abandoning them you just need some alone time. You crave a little time doing dome alone stuff. I get it. We all get it.

Drinks
Start the evening at Aureole for happy hour. Happy hour starts at 5pm and goes until 7pm. Get there at 5pm in order to take advantage of all the good stuff. These are some very good $6 cocktails. Try the “Enlightment” a concoction of Absolut Citron Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower Liquer lemon and Moscato di’Asti Float that will definitely enlighten you. It’s crisp, it’s light and it will invoke a need to relax. However, if you are hot a cocktail person you might want to go with wine simply because if you are lucky you’ll see the wine angels take flight. The massive wine tower that is the centerpiece of the restaurant holds so many treasures that splurging on wine is always a good idea. Happy hour brings $6 glasses and you can be sure you are getting some good grapes. You’ll need some snacks with your drinks so try a few of the small plates offered at Aureole from the yellowfin tuna poke’ to the heirloom tomato and bocconcini salad to the sirloin sliders you’ll have just enough in your belly to keep you satisfied until your late dinner.

Show
As happy hour winds down you’ll walk over to the show room to take in Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil. ONE is the appropriate name for a show that makes you feel good about people. It makes you feel promise about music. It makes you feel happy. This show will become among the best shows in Las Vegas because it has good energy, impressive performers and music that everybody recognizes. Date night with Cirque du Soleil really steps up your game so you will be able to reap the benefits of the decision for some time to come.

Dinner
Let’s face it, you’ll be hungry after the show you’ll be hungry so prepare yourself for Kumi Japanese Restaurant and Bar. Chef Akira Back of Yellowtail at Bellagio brings a twist to Japanese Cuisine to the Mandalay bay. He lends his top notch Korean cooking skills along with his impressive resume and expansive background to a menu that may seem familiar but tastes new and exciting. You’ll be having the hot oil salmon carpaccio and the yellowtail Serrano followed by the bone-in pork chop and then finished off with the crispy pork belly roll. I know it sounds like a lot of food but you need each and every one of those dishes.

Date nights should be special and there is no way you can top that.
