Eating in Las Vegas: Scarpetta at Cosmopolitan
The Experience
Comfortable Italian food that is fancied up does some thing for me. It makes me happy but it also makes me want to sit with a good glass of wine and a group of friends and socialize. It makes me friendlier. It makes me chatty. Scarpetta Las Vegas and its little sister D.O.C.G. at Cosmopolitan do that. They make me chatty, they make me happy and they make me want to eat way more than I should. That is a good thing. If you choose Scarpetta you’ll take a seat with a view of Las Vegas or you can sit with a view of the bar and some incredible people watching. At D.O.C.G. I love the bar area for a spot for a pizza and a glass of wine.
Who You Are Taking To The Restaurant
I’m a romantic and Scarpetta Las Vegas never fails to make my wife feel special. It might be the food or it might be my ability to woo her. I’m pretty sure it’s the food. This can be described as a special occasion restaurant but the food is not pretentious in that way. It’s the type of place where you take your wife of 10 years because you are past impressing each other and instead you impress each other by knowing exactly what makes each of you happy.
What You’ll Order
I really enjoy Scarpetta because it never feels like they need bells and whistles to make you happy. Braised short rib risotto is simple yet life altering. The creamy polenta makes my knees tremble. These are not dishes that are foreign but they are done in such a spectacular fashion that you can’t help but want to kiss the chef. Duck & foie gras ravioli or the short rib agnolotti are just the way to prep me for the spaghetti. Simply Italian, done very well. You might want the branzino, the duck or the beef but if you forget to over indulge in the bread basket you’ll never forgive yourself. Trust me when I say that this is the best bread basket in Las Vegas. (Don’t confuse it with a bread cart, there are a couple of really good bread carts in Las Vegas)
