If you travel to Las Vegas with the kids you’ll have to eat so why not find a few spots that don’t break the bank and force you to play the penny slots, right? Oh, you like the penny slots? That is a different topic that we can discuss at a later date.

Here are a few of my choices for places that work for family meals and they have been battle tested by my two children who eat way too much than my wallet would prefer.

This week in Las Vegas, May 9 - 12, 2013, you can go off your diet and indulge in one too many cocktails because the food extravaganza also known as Uncork'd will be happening and you will definitely need to treat yourself. This is a four day event that includes some serious eating and plenty of opportunities to engage your inner foodie in some decadence and food education. Pace yourself because four days of heavy lifting at the dinner table can definitely take their toll.

I tend to forget to do a few things around the house on a regular basis. I rarely pick up my socks. The toilet seat might get left up way too often. I forget to take the trash out and the leaky faucet in the restroom is going on 3 months without being addressed.

In order to play nice with my wife I've decided that she should have a little getaway with the girls. I've decided that she can have a little time doing Vegas as I do and I'll attempt to take care of those things I keep forgetting to do.

The Experience
The lounge at Nobu is where the action is at. Some might say you should head to the sushi bar while others will comment about the atmosphere in the dining room. Yes, those places are fine, but I’m all about getting comfortable. I’m the type of person who likes havng bad posture while eating good food. I like to sink into a large chair while sipping a cocktail. I like a flirtatious smile amongst a couple of people while snacking on a few small dishes.

The Experience

If you sit next to the giant wood sculpture on the back wall keep in mind that some really talented guy with a chainsaw sat in front of a giant chunk of wood and made this. Pay tribute by taking way too many pictures and sharing them with all of your friends. Yes, it looks a little freaky but it must be appreciated.

Each and everyday I get hungry and make bad decisions. It’s almost cruel the way my body metabolizes because it practically forces me to choose the wrong foods. I should point out that what I mean by the wrong foods is really me saying “I can’t lose weight.” Pool season is around the corner and I am about to tell you where to go and have a hot dog. Yes, how insane am I that I am about to tell you to take some time out of your Las Vegas vacation to have a hot dog? Very, but you’ll thank me.

3 Must Have Dishes In Las Vegas And The Chefs Behind Them

Chef Thomas Keller smiles and looks at me and then asks, “Did you tell her it’s my technique and recipe?”

“Of course not, what do you think, I’m crazy, why would I give you the credit?” I quickly respond.

I have to be perfectly honest with you when I tell you that I’m starving therefore I must write about where you should be eating lunch in Las Vegas even though we both know that I’m the one that really wants and needs to eat. (Pool season is around the corner therefore I cannot eat, I have to look good once I shed my winter coat). I really want to head over to Town Square and demand a Kale Salad at I Love Burgers but let’s face it, kale is so done these days, right?

When it comes to food, Las Vegas is all about Steakhouses. But the prices (and the wait) at some of the celebrity chef spots, or even the big name chains, can be a little daunting. How are you going to save your cash for the cards? Fear not. Though they fly under the radar, there are several steakhouses without all the hype and hoopla that still serve with the same sizzle, but as much as a third less expensive. Here are a few favorites:
